Clara Tornow was born on October 20, 1902 in the Township of Bear Creek, CTH 0, south of Clintonville, Wisconsin. She attended nearby schools and on November 12, 1927 was married to Ernest F. Lichtfuss in Clintonville at St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church. They resided in Clintonville for thirteen (13) years, where their two sons, Gerhardt (1929) and Armin (1931) were born. Clara played the organ at church and gave children private piano lessons. In the fall of 1940 they moved to Kaukauna, Wisconsin, where she later continued to play organ at Bethany Lutheran Church from 1962 until retirement in 1974. Throughout her life she was also active with the Ladies Aid Societies of the respective churches and a member of the Valparaiso University Guild. Clara suffered a stroke on February 12, 1976 and was hospitalized in Kaukauna until April 2, 1976 when she passed away.
