Michael and Eva immigrated to the United States in 1872. According to the 1900 census, Michael was living with his son, William. In the 1880 census, Michael’s last name was spelled Kopitzky. On his death certificate, in 1909, it was spelled Kopiske. His death was sudden – probably from heart disease. He was a farmer.

Selma Rucks said that Eva could speak Polish fluently so she must have been born close to the Polish border. Verna Meier said that Eva died of tuberculosis.

Amelia was raised by Eva’s niece, Wilhelmine (Mueller) Wodke. However, DNA evidence suggests that Amelia was the biological child of Michael and Eva. Amelia is shown here, in addition to Sharon’s record of the family. My posit is unconfirmed.
