Children of John and Emma Eaton:

Henry (26 Dec 1898 - 15 Nov 1940)
John (29 Oct 1901 - 11 Jun 1964)

Both of their sons were graduates of the University of Minnesota. Henry Field Eaton studied dentistry and married Aileen in 1928. They had a daughter and son in Minnesota. By 1940 they had moved to Milwaukee where Henry died in 1940. John Jackson married Catherine about 1932. They had a son and a daughter. John worked for a bag company. His employment took them from Minnesota to Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Florida. They had been living in Tampa, Florida for 5 years when he died at age 62.
When John was born on the Iowa farm he had three half-siblings and a brother. It seems they had moved to Iowa to be near the farm his grandfather Eaton had established. By 1875, he was 4, his older brother was almost 10, his half-brother was almost 13, his father had died, his half-sisters were married, his mother had remarried yet again, and they had moved back to Caledonia near New London. In 1880, age 9, JV Eaton lived with his brother, half-brother, and mother in Caledonia.

In 1885 his mother lived in Chippewa County, near the family of her oldest daughter but we don’t have a record of John’s whereabouts until 1895 when John P Eaton married Emma in Menomonie, Wisconsin. John’s middle initial in the records alternated between V and P and his places of birth included Wisconsin, Ohio, the United States and Nebraska.

John and Emma’s first child was born in Menomonie, WI. In 1900, they lived in a multi-unit dwelling at 710 Cedar Street, St Paul, MN. John P Eaton was a cashier.

In 1910 they had moved to a single family home at 2342 Ogden Avenue, St Paul. Their two boys were 8 and 11 and John V Eaton was a cashier for the Pittsburgh Coal Company.

By 1920, they had moved to 2228 Langford Avenue, St Paul and John P Eaton was the Treasurer of the Coal Company. In 1930, they were still on Langford and John P Eaton was a Coal Salesman.

Emma died in 1931 and John P Eaton died in 1935.

We have not identified any of John Potwin Eaton’s descendants as DNA matches.
