In 1875, Charlotte (nearly 16) married Alonzo Perry “AP” Davis (26), a Civil War veteran who had enlisted at age 15 in New York. Research tells us that AP’s grandfather was Joshua Davis (1775-1840) who was Charlotte’s great grandfather, making them first cousins, once removed. Nonetheless, they had three healthy children.
Inez married Sherman Edminster. They lived near New London while Charlotte was alive then lived in the Milwaukee area. Their daughter was Rose. James married Nellie Ray Loudon. They lived near New London while AP was alive then moved to Washington State where Nellie was raised. They had four children. William married Nora E Morierity. They lived near New London until their early 50s when they moved to Winnebago County. They had eight children. Two were WW II veterans. One was named Alonzo Perry Davis. All of Charlotte’s grandchildren are now dead but we have identified two of her descendants with DNA matches.
