Harl was born in Caledonia. Between 1880 and 1885 they moved a few miles to Mukwa. In 1895, Harl’s father was living in New London. Harl, his mother, and his siblings Archie, Mace, Myrtle, George, and Robert were living in Caledonia, perhaps in that shack by the river, as the family tale goes.

In 1900, at census time, Archie and Myrtle had left the pack. Harl was a mason, ready to marry Martha Smerling. They briefly lived in or near Oshkosh (birth of William) and briefly in Eland (birth of Lila).

In 1905 they lived in Northport where they lived the rest of their lives, eventually in residence A after Harl’s mother died. We know his descendants but none by DNA match.

William “Bill” Babcock married Vivian Buttolph. He was an auto mechanic. They had 3 children and always lived in Northport.

Violet “Lila” Babcock married Ward Lyon. While they lived in Northport, Ward was a painter at the Edison furniture factory and a truck driver for the county highway department. They moved to Milwaukee after 1940 with their 9 children.
