Children of Mark and Watie Malison:
According to the 1875 Wisconsin Census, Watie and Mark had a daughter and lived in Caledonia, not far from her mother and his brother. In 1880, Waite and Mark lived in New London, a few miles from her mother, and now had three children in the family.
From the 1900 US Census, we understand that Watie and Mark’s fourth child, Addie, was born April of 1881 and from her obituary (Mrs. William Secaur) we understand Addie was born in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. So we understand that Mark and Watie had moved to the unincorporated village of Cadott, Sigel township, Chippewa County, Wisconsin by April 1881.
Wisconsin death records show that Watie died in Cadott April 27, 1883 leaving Mark with four children. Thanks to her gg granddaughter, Barbara (Secaur) Seidler, we have a picture of Watie's marker in Brooklawn cemetery, Cadot. According to the 1885 Wisconsin Census, Mark lived in Cadott with the four children and his mother lived adjacent. As shown here, his mother, Sarah A (Sherburne) Malison, died in 1895. According to his obituary, Mark then moved back to New London until about 1914 when he took up residence with his oldest daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Barney Collar in Hortonville, Wisconsin. Here is Mark in his later years.
We recently matched DNA with Watie’s 2G granddaughter:
