When Mary L Babcock was born in July 1857 in Caledonia, Wisconsin, her listed father, JEHU, was 45, and her listed mother, ELSA, was 48. We presume Mary’s natural mother was actually Alsina who would have been 21 and may have died shortly after Mary’s birth. Mary lived with her (grand)parents Jehu and Elsa in 1860, 1870 and 1875.

Mary married Leonard Richer on November 21, 1879, in New London, Wisconsin. Leonard Richer was 28 years older than Mary, was a neighbor in Caledonia, and left his wife and children before he married Mary. Leonard may have been related to Elsa (Richer) Babcock. They were married until some time in the 1890s.

Mary then married Warren Worden on September 13, 1898, in Clintonville, Wisconsin. Warren was only 9 years older than Mary and died in 1904.

In 1905 and 1910 Mary (Babcock) Worden lived with Mary (Cass) Babcock, daughter-in-law of Jehu and Elsa. When Mary Cass Babcock died in 1916, Mary Worden then apparently went to live with Albert and Gladys (Babcock) Fehrman. Gladys was the granddaughter of Jehu and Elsa, daughter of Silas. In 1920, Mary was living in the Fehrman household, Gladys’ mother Sadilla was also living there, but Gladys was not. Gladys died in January of 1916.

In April 1930, Mary was living at the Waupaca County Poor Farm. She died there a few months later at the age of 73. She was buried at Floral Hill in the family plot of Iddo and Samantha Cass, the parents of Mary (Cass) Babcock. Interestingly there is no cemetery record of Mary (Cass) Babcock in that family plot or anywhere.
